Sex is intricately woven into all aspects of self, making it a deeply complex and often misunderstood space. Sex therapy provides a safe and affirming path to unravel shame, redefine intimacy, and explore the freedom and joy that come with embracing your truest, most authentic sexual self.

This journey fosters healing, self-discovery, and lifelong growth, unlocking the profound potential for connection, play, and expression.

At Stories Unfold Counseling Services, our approach blends traditional therapeutic methods with experiential, take-home exercises to support a mind-body method of transformation and growth.

Our unique process allows clients to gain a sense of mastery, while addressing any sensations, insecurities, or challenges that sex and vulnerability inevitably bump up against within us all.

Sex therapy shares many elements with traditional talk therapy but often includes experiential components and take-home practices that integrate the mind and body. These exercises help clients track their progress in tangible ways, particularly when working through sexual concerns.

Psychoeducation and active, consent-based exploration in the therapy space also play a vital role. The therapy room becomes a microcosm of real life—a space to try on new ways of thinking, feeling, and relating, which can then be replicated in the outside world in a way that feels authentic and empowering.

It's important to note that while sex therapy involves the exploration of intimate topics, it never includes any physical or sexual touch between therapist and client.

Sex therapy offers a path toward greater freedom and joy by helping us untangle from the shame, trauma, misinformation, repression, and oppression that can obscure our true selves.

It marks the beginning of a lifelong journey — one rich with possibility, intimate self-discovery, and profound healing.
